Kisumu city is growing at unprecedented rate thanks to its vast economic and social potential giving people and industries opportunities for growth. This attracts a huge influx of people from nearby rural counties of Siaya, Migori and Homa bay.

The influx is a foreseen occurrence of a gruesome threat to the already stressed and dwindling natural resources and their ecosystem services. The green city campaign seeks to spur conversations for a sustainable city and equally set forth directions to attaining this vision of inclusive, equitable and progressive city and addressing issues of sustainable and safe mobility, responsive environmental governance, establishing and restoring green spaces, integrating waste management and effective urban planning.

Through its green mobility by cycling and green schools’ initiatives, the organisation is leading the way in the dialogues to galvanise efforts and gravitate community initiatives towards realising a clean and sustainable city. This is with the effort to curtail a replica of Nairobi city’s congestion and pollution in Kisumu city.
